KOLLAM: Digital payment system is being implemented in KSRTC buses. Currently, digital payment system is available in Swift buses and long-distance super fast buses. This digital payment system is being planned to be implemented across the state, including in ordinary buses. The move to digital payment will be made within two months. As part of this, ticket machines with UPI payment system will be installed in all buses. The system is such that tickets can be purchased through the machine by scanning the QR code and paying.

Tickets can be purchased through apps like GPay, Paytm, and PhonePe. New ticket machines with live ticketing capabilities have been distributed in 40 depots in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts, and new ticket machines will be delivered to all depots in the state within two months. KSRTC has rented ticket machines and related online facilities from a ticket company called Chalo.
