IDUKKI: Crucial information has emerged in the death of Thodupuzha Chungam native Biju Joseph. The call records of the first accused, Jomon, have now surfaced as key evidence in the case. According to the police, after committing the murder, Jomon called several people and claimed that he had executed a "Drishyam 4" — referencing the famous crime thriller. These call records were retrieved directly from Jomon’s phone.
A voice test will be conducted to verify the authenticity of the voice in the recordings. Police have also stated that they will record the statements of those to whom Jomon had confided about the crime. The police are considering arresting Jomon's wife as part of their investigation, as evidence suggests she was aware of her husband's plan to kidnap Biju Joseph. The police have already submitted a custody plea for Jomon and the other accused, which the Thodupuzha court is set to consider today.
The post-mortem report stated that the cause of death was an injury to the brain. After the murder, Biju’s body was disposed of in a manhole located in the waste pit of the catering facility. The body had been buried approximately three feet deep in the five-foot-deep manhole and sealed with concrete. The incident took place at Chethimattam near Kalayanthani, Thodupuzha. Jomon Joseph (51), owner of the Devamatha Catering Service and Biju's partner in an event management business, has been identified as the main culprit. The motive behind the murder was reportedly a dispute over property division.
