'Priyadarshan is now a grandfather'; director shares family picture

Director Priyadarshan has posted a heartwarming photo from his daughter Kalyani Priyadarshan’s 32nd birthday celebration on social media. The intimate gathering took place in Chennai, with close family members joining in to mark the special occasion.

The photo shows Kalyani smiling in front of a chocolate cake. Also seen in the picture are her brother Siddharth, his wife Merlin, their daughter, and Priyadarshan himself. Priyadarshan captioned the post, 'A moment from Kalyani’s birthday celebration.' Fans were especially delighted to see the little child in the family photo, with many commenting that they didn’t know Priyadarshan had become a grandfather. “Didn’t know Priyadarshan is now a grandfather!” one person commented.

Siddharth and Merlin got married in 2023. Merlin is an American and works as a visual effects producer. Their wedding was a small, intimate ceremony held in their Chennai apartment with around ten attendees. Known affectionately as “Chandu” by close ones, Siddharth returned to India after completing a graphics course in the U.S. and worked as the VFX supervisor for the film Marakkar, directed by Priyadarshan. He received a National Award for his work on the film. Siddharth was also honored with a Special Jury Award at the 2019 Kerala State Film Awards for the same project.
