THRISSUR: A leopard charged at a child playing in the backyard. The leopard turned around when the dogs made noise. The incident took place in Valparai, Tamil Nadu. The news of the leopard entering the house came to the public’s attention after CCTV footage of the incident that took place at 5 pm on Monday evening was released.

The leopard came in front of the house of Shivakumar and Sathya, a couple living near the Valparai roti shop. At that time, their son was playing in the backyard. The leopard came from the side of the house, targeting the child. Seeing this, two dogs barked loudly. When the child also shouted, the leopard ran away in fear.

Upon hearing the commotion and reviewing CCTV footage, it was confirmed that a leopard had entered the premises. This incident comes just days after a tragic attack in Valparai where a four-year-old boy was killed by a leopard. Saitu was the son of Musharraf Ali and Safiya, migrant workers from Jharkhand employed in Tata’s plantation. They had moved to the area only two years ago.

In recent times, tiger attacks have claimed 10 lives in Valparai, leaving residents fearful. The situation escalated further when a tiger entered homes in the area. These recurring incidents highlight growing concerns about human-wildlife conflict in the region.
