GAYA: Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's granddaughter was shot dead by her husband. The incident took place in Gaya, Bihar. It is reported that Sushma Devi (32) was killed by her husband Ramesh over a family dispute.
Sushma was attacked at her house in Tetua village. Sushma's children and sister Poonam Kumari were at home when the shooting took place. Ramesh, who had reached the house at 12 noon, got into an argument with Sushma. Meanwhile, Ramesh took out a country-made gun and fired at Sushma. Ramesh later fled the scene, Poonam said. "When I heard the gunshots, I ran and found Sushma lying in a pool of blood. Sushma was taken to the hospital, but she died at home," Poonam said.
The police have formed a special team to arrest Ramesh. A case has been registered and an investigation has been launched. The deceased Sushma Devi was a Vikas Mitra who worked between the state government and development societies. She is also part of the Bihar government's Mahadalit Vikas Mission. Ramesh worked as a truck driver in Patna.
Manjhi, an MP from the Gaya Lok Sabha seat and leader of the Hindustani Awam Morcha, is the Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
