THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The court found Rajendran guilty in the Ambalamukku Vineetha murder case. The Thiruvananthapuram seventh additional district sessions court found him guilty in the case. The quantum of sentence will be pronounced later. Rajendran of Kanyakumari stabbed the victim Vineetha, a private nursery employee in Ambalamukku, and a native of Karipur in Nedumangad, to death on February 6 in 2022.
The prosecution produced 12 pen drives and seven DVDs containing CCTV visuals of the accused coming to kill Vineetha and returning from the spot of the incident, in the court. In the case where there were no eyewitnesses, the prosecution examined 96 witnesses, relying only on scientific and circumstantial evidence.
Vineetha was murdered at 11.50 am on February 6 in 2022. She was murdered by Rajendran of Rajeev Nagar at Thovala Vellamadom at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. He murdered her to steal her gold chain of 4.5 sovereigns. Rajendran, who invests money in online stock market, committed murders when he needed money for it. In a similar manner, he had killed Subbayyan, customs officer from Vellamadom in Tamil Nadu, his wife Vasanthi, and their 13-year-old daughter Abhisree, and robbed them of their gold and money. Vineetha was murdered after he was released on bail in this case.
Vineetha got the job in the private nursery shop in Ambalamukku after her husband’s death. She got the job nine months before her murder. On the day of the murder, Vineetha had gone to the shop to water plants amidst Covid restrictions. The accused entered the shop on the pretext of buying plants, attacked her from behind when she was showing him the plants, and then stabbed her in the neck with a knife.
