KOCHI: Former DGP Loknath Behera made a shocking revelation about terrorist Tahawwur Hussain Rana's Kochi visit just before the Mumbai terror attacks. Behera revealed that Rana visited Kochi multiple times and confirmed having immigration documents to prove this.

Behera was the former head of the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) wing investigating the financial sources of terrorism. Rana arrived in Kochi in November 2008. He stayed at the Taj Hotel on Marine Drive, Ernakulam. David Headley, another key mastermind in the Mumbai terror attack case, was questioned by a team including Behera. After the terrorist attacks, the Taj Group handed over the details of foreigners who had stayed in their hotel chains to the investigating officers. NIA is likely to investigate more into Rana’s dubious visit to Kochi.

US President Donald Trump signed an order to extradite Rana to India in February this year. A special plane carrying Rana arrived at the Air Force base in Delhi on Thursday evening. Earlier reports said that he would be taken to the NIA office in a bulletproof vehicle as soon as the plane arrived. After the formalities, he will be shifted to the high-security block of Tihar Jail. It is reported that a 12-member team of the NIA is questioning Rana. The team includes two IGs, one DIG, and one SP. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson evaded media questions, terming Rana as a Canadian having no links to Pakistan.
