Two killed as car rams into tea shop; driver arrested

PALAKKAD: Two people were killed after a car rammed into a tea shop in Pulinchode in Palakkad. The deceased are tea shop owner Balan and another person who was in the shop at the time. The identity of the second victim has not yet been confirmed.

The car involved in the accident was traveling from Alathur towards Nenmara. The driver, Prathapan, a native of Nenmara, has been arrested by the police. According to the police, the car lost control after hitting a bike and then crashed into the tea shop. The incident occurred around 3 PM today. Police indicated that the accident likely happened because the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
