Quality study materials will be available at cheaper rates: Minister Sivankutty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty stated that plans are underway to distribute quality study materials at low prices through school cooperative societies. Textbooks for the 2025-26 academic year are already being delivered to schools through 3299 societies. The initiative aims to make study materials affordable and accessible by utilizing these societies.

In Thiruvananthapuram district, there are 268 societies, while Kollam has 292, Pathanamthitta 123, Alappuzha 261, Kottayam 251, Idukki 130, Ernakulam 343, Thrissur 221, Palakkad 235, Malappuram 321, Kozhikode 334, Wayanad 68, Kannur 315, and Kasaragod 137.

The minister emphasized that the goal is to ensure students can obtain study materials from these societies at reasonable prices. He held a review meeting today to discuss the matter, attended by Director of Public Education Shanavas S, IAS and other senior officials.
