Flees from Kuwait after taking loans of crores; HC rejects bail plea of Malayali nurses

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the accused in the Kuwait Bank loan fraud case. The high court rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of Keerthimon Sadanandan from Kumarakom and Rakhul Ratheeshan of Muvattupuzha. The case alleged that the two took a loan of more than a crore from the Gulf Bank in Kuwait and failed to repay it. It was alleged that around 1300 people from Kerala had cheated the bank. Following this, 15 cases have been registered in the state. The complaint is that Rs 700 crore has been cheated.


The allegation is that people including Malayali nurses had taken loans and failed to repay them. After taking a huge amount as loan while working, majority of the defaulters had returned homes or migrated to Canada and European countries. The fraud committed by people including Malayali nurses, came to light in an investigation into the bank accounts where repayments were not made. The loan fraud was committed by 800 who worked as nurses in the Kuwait ministry.
