CHENNAI: Misinformation is spreading like wildfire on social media regarding Indian Railways' Tatkal ticket booking. Rumours said that Tatkal booking timings changed in recent days. However, Indian Railways officially clarified that no such changes have been proposed or implemented in the ticket booking schedule.
The clarification comes amid several misleading posts circulating online claiming that the booking timings for Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets have been revised. Railway authorities appealed to passengers not to give ears to such rumours.
As per the current rules of Indian Railways, Tatkal tickets can be booked one day before the travel date from the train's departure station.
1. AC Ticket Booking (2A, 3A, CC, EC, 3E)- 10 AM to 11 AM one day before the travel date.
2. Tatkal Booking for Non-AC - 11 AM one day before the travel date.
Tatkal booking facility is available only in selected trains under Tatkal quota. Bookings are allowed for a maximum of four passengers per PNR number. Passengers can book Tatkal e-tickets through the official IRCTC website or app.
