ALAPPUZHA: Tensions erupted after a nine-year-old girl undergoing treatment at a private hospital died on Saturday. Chirakkadavam native Adi Lakshmi, daughter of Ajith and Saranya, died this morning.

The child was admitted to the hospital on Thursday after developing a fever and stomach pain. According to the relatives, the hospital authorities informed them about finding nothing alarming in the scan and other results.

After taking an injection this morning, the child went to sleep. She did not wake up later, forcing some shaken family members to summon doctors to the room. Upon checking, the doctor confirmed death. Tensions brewed up soon after some of the relatives got into a scuffle with doctors at the hospital.

They broke the windows of the hospital and attacked the staff. The dead body has been shifted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Adi Lakshmi was a class 3 student at Govt LP School.
