NEW DELHI: The family of former Kannur ADM Naveen Babu, has filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into his death. Naveen Babu's wife Manjusha has approached the Supreme Court. In her plea, Manjusha said that she has no faith in the ongoing investigation. The Kerala High Court had earlier rejected the family's plea seeking a CBI probe into the death. The family then approached the Supreme Court.
Former Kannur district panchayat president P P Divya is the lone accused in the case. The charge sheet said the speech of Divya at the farewell function of Naveen Babu prompted him to commit suicide. Divya had planned to insult Naveen Babu. The charge sheet said that her intention to go to the farewell meeting without an invitation was to humiliate the ADM. It has been found that Divya arranged a local channel to film the video and that she circulated the footages of it from her own phone.
Naveen Babu's suicide note or other reasons could not be found in the case. The investigation team also clarified that nothing leading to the murder could be found in the scientific examination. The investigation team recorded the statements of 82 people, including Naveen's family members. The charge sheet consists of about 400 pages. The charge sheet was submitted at the Kannur Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court.
