Railways announces special train from Kochi to this city; bookings started

KOCHI: The Railways has made an announcement that will bring relief to the Malayalis who are facing severe travel difficulties during the festive season. To alleviate the travel difficulties, the Railways has sanctioned a one-way special train from the state. The train has been announced for the national capital, Delhi, where many Malayalis live. Bookings for the train departing from the state on April 16 have also started.

The sanctioned Special Train is Ernakulam-Hazrat Nizamuddin One-Way Superfast (06061. The train will depart from Ernakulam Junction at 6.05 pm on April 16 (Wednesday) and will reach Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi at 8.35 pm on April 18 (Friday). The Railway Ministry has announced that ticket booking for the train has started on Vishu itself. Union Minister George Kurien thanked Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for sanctioning the special train.

Special train on Thiruvananthapuram - Mangaluru route

The train is scheduled to depart from Mangalore on Saturday evening and arrive in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday morning and return from Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday evening and arrive in Mangalore on Monday morning. The service is via Alappuzha. This train has started service from April 12.

This train has one AC three-tier coach, 12 sleeper class coaches, 4 general second class coaches and 2 second class coaches. The ticket fare is Rs 450 for sleeper and Rs 1,220 for AC three-tier. This weekend special train has a total of 8 trips, including four services in each direction.

Mangalore- Thiruvananthapuram North (No. 06041)

Mangalore Junction- Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli) Weekend Special train will depart from Mangalore at 6 pm on Saturday. It will arrive at Thiruvananthapuram North at 6.35 am on Sunday. The service will operate on April 12, 19, 26 and May 3.

Thiruvananthapuram North - Mangalore (No. 06042)

The Thiruvananthapuram North- Mangalore Weekly Special train will depart at 6.40 pm on Sundays, April 13, 20, 27 and May 4 and arrive at Mangalore Junction at 7.00 am on Monday.
