THRISSUR: In a recurring crisis in the state, two more people were trampled to death by a wild tusker in Athirappilly on Tuesday. The victims have been identified as Sathish and Ambika, residents of Sasthampoovam Vazhachal. Both are from tribal communities.

Three families were living in the area. When the wild tuskers came as a herd, the tribal members scattered and ran for their lives. It is reported that the others jumped into the river after seeing the tusker attack Satish.

Satish's body was found first. The subsequent search from forest officials found Ambika's body in the river. Steps have been initiated to move the dead body to the hospital.

Three people have died in wild elephant attacks in the state in the past two days. A young man named Sebastian was killed in a wild elephant attack in Malakkappara the other day. The incident took place on Sunday night. Sebastian and his friends were returning from collecting honey around 10 pm when they were attacked by a wild elephant.
