THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain is likely in the state in the coming hours. Yellow alert has been issued in various districts. Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam and Idukki districts. Isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
The Central Meteorological Department has informed that light/moderate rain with thundershowers and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph are likely at isolated places in Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts in the next three hours.
Thunderstorms are dangerous. They cause great damage to human and animal life, electrical and communication networks and household appliances connected to electrical conductors. Therefore, precautions should be taken from the moment the thundercloud is seen. Do not refrain from taking such precautions although lightning may not always be visible.
IMD has informed that there is no hindrance to fishing on the Kerala - Karnataka - Lakshadweep coasts today.

22/04/2025: Strong winds with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph and at times up to 55 kmph and bad weather are likely along the south Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Kanyakumari area. Fishing is not allowed in these areas on the above date.
