KOCHI: Dalit Congress leader has been suspended for his lewd comments on Divya S Iyer IAS's social media post. Dalit Congress Ernakulam District Secretary T K Prabhakaran was suspended by the Congress district leadership. The social media post shared by Divya praising K K Ragesh, selected as CPM Kannur district secretary, had stoked a controversy.
T K Prabhakaran made the derogatory remark under the comment of V M Sudheeran questioning her post saying, 'Divya has no sense of propriety'. DCC President Muhammad Shiyas said that he was suspended from the party because he was convinced that Prabhakaran's comment was not in line with the culture and tradition of the Congress.
Screenshots of Prabhakaran's comment were widely circulated and the district committee had received a complaint. The action was taken after an investigation was conducted.
Prabhakaran had made obscene remarks last year in another incident and was subjected to party action. Later, the action was withdrawn on the assurance that it would not be repeated. However, when it was repeated again, he was suspended.
Meantime, Youth Congress Kannur District Committee President Vigil Mohan filed a complaint against Divya S Iyer over her controversial post. The complaint was filed with state chief secretary Sarada Muraleedharan and the central director of public grievance redressal. The complaint was filed alleging that Divya S Iyer had committed a serious violation of the code of conduct.
