KOCHI: Actress Maala Parvathi has come forward with a clarification regarding her recent controversial interview. Speaking to the media, she explained that her intention was to highlight the importance of responding immediately when faced with unpleasant experiences and then approaching the Internal Committee or other authorities if needed.
The controversy arose from Maala Parvathi’s response to a YouTube channel when asked about actress Vincy Aloshious's complaint against actor Shine Tom Chacko.
“What I meant was that actresses should react promptly when they face inappropriate behaviour. Vincy should have responded then and there, instead of carrying the humiliation in her mind. Why are girls afraid to speak up in such matters? People are now attributing statements to me that I never intended, things I wouldn’t even dream of saying,” she said.
“Vincy claimed she was humiliated in public. If so, she should have reacted at the time it happened. Those present on set would surely have supported her. Why would I stand against women?” Maala Parvathi further clarified.
The issue gained traction after several people expressed disagreement with Maala Parvathi’s remarks, in which she appeared to suggest that women in the film industry should strongly resist and ignore inappropriate behaviour from men. The video interview, given three days ago, resurfaced following Vincy’s complaint that she was mistreated on a film set by someone under the influence of drugs. The situation intensified when actor Shine Tom Chacko, linked to the incident, was arrested on Saturday in connection with a drug case.
