KOCHI: The suspicion that the murder of Vijayakumar and his wife Meera in Kottayam is related to the mysterious death of their son Gautham has been strengthened. The suspicion is strengthened by the fact that Gautham's parents were killed after the CBI took over the investigation into Gautham's death. The CBI is said to be on the preliminary conclusion that Gautham was murdered.
Vijayakumar had filed a petition in the High Court seeking an effective investigation into Gautham's death. This comes after the District Crime Branch concluded that Gautham had committed suicide. The investigation team's report stated that Gautham's neck wounds were self-inflicted and that Gautham had then jumped in front of the train. However, the Crime Branch ADGP took the stand in the High Court that a detailed investigation was required to clear the doubts.
Justice Kauser Edappagath made observations pointing to the possibility of murder in his order handing over the investigation to the CBI. The court pointed out that the inquest and postmortem reports showed that Gautham had serious injuries all over his body. There were two injuries on his neck measuring 11 and 13 centimetres. The cause of death was injuries to his neck and chest.
Gautham's car was 240 meters away from where the body was lying. There was blood on the seat of the car. The blade (box cutter) believed to have been used to inflict the injuries was lying in the back seat, bathed in blood. The court assessed that all this opens the way to the possibility of murder.
"The murder of Gautham's parents is a shocking incident. Both the cases should be investigated by the CBI."
