NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India after cutting short his visit to Saudi Arabia in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack. The Prime Minister arrived in Delhi at 7 am. A meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister to assess the situation in Pahalgam. The meeting was held at the lounge in the technical area of the airport. The Prime Minister is also likely to call a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also returned to India.
Meantime, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah. He expressed support for the country's moves against terrorism. Various countries of the world also expressed support for India's moves against terrorism. USA, Israel, Britain and Australia condemned the terrorist attack. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that they are with India in the fight against terrorism. The India-Saudi summit began with a tribute to those killed in the terrorist attack. The Saudi Crown Prince expressed condolences and promised all assistance.
28 people were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. It is reported that 27 men and one woman were killed. More than ten people injured in the attack are undergoing treatment. Malayali Ramachandran of Edappally in Ernakulam was also killed in the attack. It is also reported that steps have been taken to bring his body back to the state. A Nepali and an Indian of UAE nationality are among the dead. The bodies of the killed have been brought to Srinagar. The postmortem will be conducted in Srinagar itself. There are reports that it may take up to two days to hand over the bodies to the kin.
