‘Centre's claim has shattered; Modi Govt is a total failure’, says M V Govindan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM has strongly criticized the central government for the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. CPM state secretary M V Govindan said the claims of those including the union home minister that peace has been restored and the region has become calm after the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status, have shattered with the terrorist attack.

The attack that led to the murder of 28 tourists points to the failure of the central government and intelligence agencies to ensure the security of the country. The fact that the attack took place within days of a high-level meeting in Srinagar led by Amit Shah increases the seriousness of the incident.

It is an extremely serious situation that the region is still in turmoil even after five years of abolishing the powers of the elected government and bringing Kashmir under central rule. This incident shows that the Modi government has completely failed to eliminate the terrorist network.
