Former Indian Army officer, actor, and director Major Ravi has strongly reacted to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. In an interview with Kaumudy Movies, he stated that the army can only act upon direct orders from the Prime Minister and that intelligence agencies have likely already collected substantial reports on the matter.

“It seems like we have relaxed a bit in terms of vigilance,” he said. “In conflict-affected regions like these, once the military is withdrawn, the area gradually returns to a seemingly normal state. People stop feeling the presence of the armed forces. That was the situation in Kashmir. This attack, carried out by terrorists in army uniforms, reminds me of the Mumbai terror attacks.”

Major Ravi emphasised that he doesn’t believe there was a security lapse, but was shocked that the attackers openly asked their victims if they were Hindus before shooting. “It is often said that the biggest issue here is between Hindus and Muslims. But in Kerala, there has never been a riot between Hindus and Muslims. Those who carry out such attacks have no love for the nation. It is the misinformed individuals who create divisions within society,” he said.

He continued, “This is what happened in Kashmir as well. Their aim was to mislead people. The terrorists wanted to create a situation where it appeared that Muslims were targeting Hindus. Their ultimate goal was to spark communal unrest across the country and disrupt national peace.”

Major Ravi alleged that this was not a Pakistan-sponsored attack per se, but rather one that was sponsored and carried out by some people within India and then communicated to Pakistan. “What Pakistan might face now won’t be like Balakot after the Pulwama attack — this time the retaliation will be more severe. There will be no more discussions — only action,” he asserted.
