GANDHINAGAR: The Indian Navy successfully conducted the missile test in Arabian Sea. The warship INS Surat successfully conducted the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MR-SAM) test.
India conducted the successful test ahead of the missile test to be conducted by the Pakistan Navy in the Arabian Sea. The MR-SAM missiles are capable of defending against surface-to-air missiles and other air attacks.
The successful test of the missile by INS, one of the Indian Navy's newest missile destroyers, is another milestone in strengthening the country's defense system, the Indian Navy said on social media. The achievement demonstrates the growing proficiency of the Indian Navy in the design, development and operation of indigenous warships. It also underlines the country's commitment to self-reliance in defense manufacturing, the navy said in a statement.
INS Surat is the fourth and final ship in the P15B guided missile destroyer project. It is one of the largest and most advanced destroyers in the world. 75 percent of INS Surat is indigenously built. It is also equipped with state-of-the-art weapon-sensor packages and advanced network-centric systems.
