NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the chief ministers of all states to identify and deport Pakistani nationals. India had on Wednesday decided to cancel the visas of Pakistani nationals following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The order is to cancel the visas of Pakistani nationals before April 27. The visa validity of those holding medical visas has been extended to 48 hours.

India has concrete evidence on the attack in Pahalgam being planned and executed by Pakistan. India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had presented evidence before senior foreign diplomats from the US, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China. The decision to cancel the visas of Pakistani nationals is just one of the major steps taken by India. The Indus Waters Treaty which India and Pakistan have been implementing cooperatively for years, has been temporarily suspended. Pakistan has declared India's decision as the beginning of war.

In return, Islamabad has informed of canceling the Simla Agreement. Indian-owned or operated aircraft have also been denied entry to Pakistani airports. The terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, had claimed the lives of 26 tourists in the attack that happened on Tuesday. Five armed terrorists opened fire on the tourists. India had also announced that it would give a strong befitting reply to the terrorist attack.

Meantime, Pakistan has said that the attack in Pahalgam was not carried out by terrorists but by freedom fighters. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar described the terrorists as freedom fighters in the press meet convened. It is noteworthy that Dar's remarks came as Pakistan reiterated its lack of involvement in the attack.
