KOCHI: The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has suspended directors Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza caught with hybrid ganja. The two have been expelled from the organization's directors’ union. Director Sibi Malayil said action will be taken against those taking drugs. Film Chamber general secretary Saji Nanthiyattu responded that the incident of seizing hybrid ganja from the directors is shocking. He added that raids should be conducted on film sets and that technicians are the ones who use drugs the most.
The excise team arrested the directors from a flat in Kochi early Sunday morning. The flat was in the name of cinematographer Sameer Thahir. Sameer Thahir may also be questioned in the incident. It has been decided to issue a notice to Sameer Thahir and summon him. This is the second time that this flat has been searched.
This is the flat taken for script writing and film discussions. Excise said that drug use is widespread here. Excise had received information that people regularly come here to take drugs. They will also investigate who supplied them ganja. The investigation team has collected information from three who have been arrested. A youth supplied them ganja. The excise team arrived at the flat and arrested them when they started using drugs.
