THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is common for people to misuse the names of CEOS and senior officials of IT companies, including those in the IT industry, to extort money online. The targets are new employees. Recently, a company in Technopark tried to extort Rs. 9 million from an employee.

An automobile company in Mumbai lost seven crores in an impersonation scam. The scam involves sending fake emails that resemble the official emails of high-ranking officials. Open the link provided in the email, and you will lose the money, including personal information and bank secrets.

Fraudsters will ask for the company's financial documents, including the manager's name, via WhatsApp or Telegram. They will ask for the money to be transferred immediately. Fraud is also being perpetrated by sending messages under the pretext of bonuses. Employees will also receive a fake email message from the company CEO asking them to buy an Amazon gift voucher. The fraud involves asking the employees to pay for the voucher.

  • Don't send money without meeting them directly

  • Don't open unfamiliar links
