KOCHI: Eight from a group called Solidarity Gathering were arrested in Kochi for protesting against the army's demolition of terrorist houses in Kashmir. However, this was not recorded in the FIR.
A case has been registered for obstructing the road and unlawful assembly. The gathering took place on the road in front of Central Park in Panampilly Nagar at 4.30 pm on Tuesday. Those arrested were later released on station bail. Police intelligence has launched an investigation into the incident.
The meeting was led by Rejas (26) from Edappally, K.K. Unni (30) from Chottanikkara, Shadman (31) from Aurangabad, Ashfaq (32) from Kuttiyadi, Kozhikode, Daniel Jose (24) from Vellathooval, Idukki, Athira Venu (29) from Mumbai, Fathima Nida (24), a native of Malappuram, and Preethi Son (25), a native of Idukki.
During the meeting, the group held up posters and shouted slogans. The police, after reaching the spot, took them into custody within seven minutes.
