Law and order charge given to ADGP H Venkatesh; replaces Manoj Abraham

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: H Venkatesh will be the ADGP with the charge of law and order. He is presently the head of the crime branch. His appointment is on the post lying vacant after Manoj Abraham, in charge of law and order, has been made the fire force chief. Manoj Abraham will take charge on May 1. Manoj Abraham is 1994 batch IPS officer.

With the charge of law and order lying vacant, the government had entered into various discussions. When the new DGP takes charge, there will be a reshuffle at the police top level in the state. Therefore, the government had entered into discussions whether there should be a reshuffle or whether the DGP himself should handle the charge of law and order. However, the decision changed before Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The chief minister decided that someone should be given the charge of law and order. So, H Venkatesh was appointed to the post.
