MALAPPURAM: Women, who own a temple, donated a portion of the temple land to their neighbour to build a road to his house. Lakshmi Suma and Parvathy, members of the Kolangassery family at Tanur in Malappuram and owners of the temple land, gave a portion of it to their neighbor. The land was given to Saleem of Tanur for free.
Saleem, who lives along the Vilakeeri Vellariparampu road in Tanur, had been requesting his relatives living nearby for years to give land to build a road to his house, but to no avail. Tanur Priyam Residents Association president V P Babu and secretary Kunjavutty Khader along with Saleem approached Lakshmi and Parvathy, the owners of the family temple, requesting them to intervene to get a road facility from the land of the private temple opposite Saleem's house. Saleem is a member of the Priyam Residents Association.
Understanding the difficulties Saleem and his family faced for the treatment of his ailing mother, Lakshmi and Parvathy happily informed to donate land required to construct a road. The wall around the temple was demolished, and land of one and a half feet wide and 40 meters long was given to Saleem. The residents' association took the lead in constructing the road to Saleem's house. After constructing the road, Saleem reconstructed the temple wall.
