Smoke in Kozhikode Medical College emergency department, patients evacuated

KOZHIKODE: Smoke rising from the emergency department of Kozhikode Medical College has caused panic. The smoke rose from the UPS room in the building where the emergency department operates. The incident took place around 8 pm. All the patients in the emergency department were shifted to other nearby hospitals following the incident. The hospital superintendent informed that the situation is under control. It is suspected that a short circuit is the cause of the smoke.

Minister Veena George has directed the Director of the Medical Education Department to investigate the incident. The minister also asked the patients to be shifted to another safe place so that they do not face any difficulties.
