THALASSERY: Three individuals, including migrant workers from other states, have been taken into police custody for allegedly gang-raping a pregnant woman in Thalassery. The 32-year-old woman, who is six weeks pregnant, was allegedly assaulted beneath the Melur railway overbridge. Those in custody have been identified as Muzhappilangad native Prajith (30), Bihar Katihar native Asif (19) and Bihar Kanpur native Sahabul (24).

The woman had come to the city for a personal errand. After seeking treatment at the Kozhikode Medical College, she disclosed the sexual assault to the attending doctor, who in turn informed the hospital authorities. The authorities then reported the matter to the police. The survivor is currently under police protection.
