THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An autorickshaw driver was burnt to death after being hit by a speeding car. B Sivakumar (Suni - 47), son of Bhaskaran and Komalam, who live on rent in the Kundamon area of Vizhavoor, died. The accident happened at 3 am yesterday at Pattom by a car driven by a 19-year-old boy. The same car hit a bike at the same spot. The bike riders were also injured.

Vilappil Chowalloor native Ajith Kumar who was in the autorickshaw with Sivakumar, Akhil and Anju from Pattom Chalakuzhi Lane who were on the bike, and Sreekaryam Gandhipuram resident Ayan (19) who was driving the car, were injured. Ajith Kumar, who suffered serious burns, has been admitted to the Medical College Burn ICU. Ayan's injury is minor. The accident took place near Pattom St. Mary's School. Sivakumar and Ajith, who are construction workers, were on their way to their work site in Pothencode in an autorickshaw. The bike, which had entered the main road from the side road near the accident site, took a U-turn to go towards Keshavadasapuram. At this time, the auto that was coming behind the bike braked and the speeding car crashed into the auto and the bike. The bikers were thrown out due to the impact of the crash. The initial conclusion of the police is that the petrol in the construction machinery stored in the auto is what caused the auto to catch fire.

A security guard from a nearby building and two passers-by rushed to the scene after seeing the accident. They were the ones who pulled out Ajith Kumar, who was trapped in the back seat of the auto. They could not pull out Shivakumar, who was trapped in the middle, as the front of the auto was crushed by the impact. The biker who had fallen near the auto suffered burns on her head, but they were saved. The Medical College Police and Fire Force rushed the injured to the hospital, but Shivakumar's life could not be saved. The Medical College Police said that the blood sample of Ayan, who was driving the car, showed that he was not drunk. Ayan is a student in Hyderabad.
