Youth who gave food and shelter to terrorists in Jammu drowns in river

SRINAGAR: A youth, who was taken into custody for giving food and shelter to the terrorists, drowned in a river. The incident happened at Kulgam in Jammu. The 23-year-old identified as Imitiaz Ahmad Magray jumped into the river to flee.


Imitiaz jumped into the river to escape from the hands of the security forces. A video released shows the youth trying to swim but the strong current carried him away and he drowned.


Imtiaz had provided food and necessary facilities to the terrorists who were hiding in the forest at Tangmarg in Kulgam. The police took him into custody on Saturday. During interrogation, Imtiaz confessed to have helped them. He also said that he could take the security forces to the terrorists’ hideout.


While accompanying the security forces to show the terrorists hideout, Imtiaz suddenly looked around and jumped into the Veshaw River to escape. The video showed the youth trying to swim, but the strong current carried him away and he drowned. His escaped was captured on camera.


Meanwhile, his family alleged that the youth taken into custody was murdered. PDP leader and former Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti alleged conspiracy in his death. However, the security forces condemned those spreading such false information. The army also released visuals to clear the misunderstanding among the people.
