THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A yellow alert has been issued in various districts in Kerala as the heat wave continues to rise again. Temperature warnings have been issued in Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The temperature will rise to 38 degrees Celsius in Kozhikode district today and tomorrow, and 37 degrees Celsius in Palakkad district. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that the temperature is likely to rise to 36 degrees Celsius in Kollam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
Meanwhile, IMD has informed that there is a possibility of thundershowers and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph in isolated places in Kerala today and tomorrow. However, no special alert has been issued in any of the districts today. Officials have also informed that there is a possibility of rough seas due to waves rising to 0.9 to 1.0 meters on the coasts in Thiruvananthapuram district (from Kappil to Pozhiyur) as part of the Swell surge phenomenon (kalla kadal phenomenon) till 8.30 pm tonight.. However, there is no hindrance to fishing on the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep today, IMD clarified.
