KANNUR: Newlywed bride's 30 sovereigns of gold jewellery was found abandoned in Karivallur. The jewellery was found tied up in a bag near a house this morning. It was the wedding jewellery of Archa Sudhi, a native of Kollam. The jewellery was found during an inspection conducted near the house by the police who had come to record the statements of the family members in connection with the theft.
The woman got married last Thursday. She realised that the jewellery had been stolen the next day when she took out the jewellery box to show the ornaments to her relatives. The gold was kept in four boxes. A complaint was then filed with the police. Fingerprint experts and the police had visited the house and inspected it. The family members had told the police that the theft had taken place on the wedding day or the next day.
The lost jewellery is worth around Rs 20 lakh. There was no sign of any damage to the cupboard or door. It is reported that all the lost gold was recovered. The police were investigating whether the robbery was carried out by a professional gang. The initial conclusion of the police was that someone close to the house might be behind the robbery. The incident took place at the house of Choorakkattu Manoharan, a former KSEB overseer in Paliyeri. Archa's husband is Manoharan's son AK Arjun. Arjun and Archa are IT workers in Thiruvananthapuram. The diamond jewellery and money were in two bags but were not lost.
