THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of Operation D-Hunt, a special statewide drive was conducted on Tuesday during which 1,839 individuals suspected of being involved in drug trafficking were subjected to checks. A total of 74 cases were registered for possession of various types of banned narcotics, and 84 people were arrested. The police seized significant quantities of illegal drugs, including MDMA (0.029 kg), ganja (15.216 kg), and 56 cannabis-laced beedis during the inspections.
Operation D-Hunt was conducted across the state on May 6, 2025, with the aim of identifying and taking strict legal action against those involved in the storage and distribution of banned narcotics. A 24-hour Anti-Narcotics Control Room (9497927797) has been set up to receive drug-related information from the public. To strengthen actions against drug-related offences, an Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Cell and NDPS Coordination Cell are functioning at the state level under the direct supervision of the ADGP (Law and Order). In addition, Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Cells are operating at the range level as well.
