KOCHI: Rapper Vedan said the action taken against the officials of the forest department in the tiger-tooth case is not right. While talking to the media, Vedan said that he felt like blaming individuals for the mistake committed by the system and that it is not right to punish one. He responded while coming to the Kodanad forest office in connection with the case. The Kodanad Forest Range Officer was transferred in the case against the rapper.
‘My opinion is that it is not right. Not only now, haunting was something I have faced constantly. It will be there throughout my life. It is nothing new,' clarified Vedan.
Adheesh, Kodanad Range Officer, who explained the details in connection with Vedan’s case to the media, was transferred outside the Malayattoor division. His transfer order was issued by Forest Minister A K Saseendran. It is not right that unconfirmed statements such as the accused having Sri Lankan connections were revealed to the media during the investigation. The transfer is subject to a departmental inquiry. The forest chief was directed to conduct a detailed investigation and submit a final report. The minister had clarified that further action would be taken after receiving the report.
Kerala Dalit Federation state president P Ramabhadran and Secretary Dr Vineetha Vijayan had submitted a memorandum to the chief minister demanding that the case registered against the rapper be withdrawn and action be taken against the Kodanad Range Forest Officer who made racially abusive remarks by referring to his mother as a Sri Lankan.
