NEW DELHI: The Congress high command kept aside all ambiguity and removed K Sudhakaran from the post of KPCC president in Kerala on Thursday. Peravoor MLA Sunny Joseph, also from Kannur, has been appointed as the new president.
Sudhakaran was made a special invitee to the AICC working committee. Attingal MP Adoor Prakash was also appointed as the UDF convener. MLAs PC Vishnunath, AP Anilkumar and MP Shafi Parambil have also been appointed as working presidents. When K Sudhakaran stepped down as Kannur DCC president in 2001, Sunny Joseph was his successor.
24 years apart, Sunny Joseph is back again to emulate 2001; to take the reins of KPCC from K Sudharakaran. Sunny Joseph is an MLA from Peravoor in Kannur district.
Sunny Joseph entered the assembly by defeating CPM's stalwart KK Shailaja in his debut in 2011. He completed a hat-trick of victories in the 2016 and 2021 assembly elections, overcoming strong competition.
