Theft reported at Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple, gold bar worth 12 sovereigns missing

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It has been reported that a gold bar brought for the maintenance of the shrine of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple has been stolen. The bar, weighing 12 sovereigns, which was kept in the store room, was stolen. Repair work had been going on at the shrine for the past few days. The last work was done on May 7.

Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple Executive Officer Mahesh told Kerala Kaumudi Online that it was discovered that the gold bar was missing when the store room was opened today. He added that the store room and the premises are under police surveillance and an investigation into the theft is underway. Fort Police stated that they are examining the CCTV footage from the temple premises and the shrine area.
