Doctor held with cocaine in Hyderabad, confesses to spending around Rs 70 lakh on drugs

HYDERABAD: The CEO of a hospital in Hyderabad was caught while receiving cocaine worth Rs 5 lakh. Namrata Chigurupati, 34, a doctor was arrested while receiving the drugs in a courier from Mumbai-based supplier Vansh Dhakkar.

She was caught along with Dhakkar's aide Balakrishna, who was delivering the drugs. Police said Namrata contacted Dhakkar through WhatsApp and ordered cocaine worth Rs 5 lakh. She transferred the amount online.

‘Namrata ordered the drugs from Vansh in Mumbai, who was known to her. Balakrishna came to supply the drugs and handed them over to her at Rayadurgam.

Police seized Rs 10,000, 53 grams of cocaine and two mobile phones from them. A case has been registered against Namrata under various sections and they have been sent to judicial custody, said Venkanna. During interrogation, Namrata reportedly confessed to spending around Rs 70 lakh on drugs.
