KASARGOD: The police have registered a case and an investigation has started into the death of a 16-year-old girl due to excessive bleeding. The incident happened at Vellarikund in Kasaragod. The girl dead is a native of Parappa. The girl was taken to the Kanhangad hospital yesterday morning due to excessive bleeding. However, she was later admitted to a hospital in Mangalore after her health deteriorated, but her life could not be saved.
A medical examination confirmed her pregnancy. There are also allegations that the she was given panacea (ottamooli) to abort. The Vellarikund police said that more details will be clear only after getting the postmortem report. Her relatives said the girl was having an affair with her classmate. There were some problems over this relationship. The police are in the process of questioning her relatives and others in connection with her death.
