MALAPPURAM: 18 more people have been included in the contact list of a patient suffering from Nipah in Malappuram. With this, the number of people included in the contact list has reached 112. 54 people are in the high-risk category and 58 are in the low-risk category. Malappuram-81, Palakkad-25, Kozhikode-3 and one each from Ernakulam, Idukki and Thiruvananthapuram districts are on the contact list. Minister Veena George announced that the test results of 11 more people included in the contact list have turned negative. With this, the test results of 42 people have turned negative.
An online Nipah review meeting was held today under the leadership of the minister. Prophylactic treatment is being given to 10 people on the high-risk list. As part of fever surveillance, 2087 houses were visited today by trained health workers. A total of 3868 houses have been visited so far. 87 percent of house visits have been completed. A joint outbreak investigation coordinated by various departments has been directed to specifically investigate the deaths of animals.
