NEW DELHI: In the wake of Pakistan's continued provocations and ceasefire violations, Indian authorities have directed heightened vigilance along the border tonight. As a precautionary measure, a blackout has been declared in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Officials have requested the public to cooperate by turning off lights and staying indoors.
Partial restrictions have also been imposed in Amritsar and Firozpur. A holiday has been declared tomorrow for all educational institutions in the border districts of Punjab. District administrations in Amritsar and Firozpur have instructed residents to switch off lights and remain indoors from 8 PM onwards.
The Indian government has granted the armed forces full freedom to retaliate if Pakistan's provocations continue. Meanwhile, the Indian Army clarified that Operation Sindoor was solely aimed at eliminating terrorists. The operation targeted terror camps within Pakistan, with Muridke — one of the largest training hubs for terrorists — being the primary focus.
As part of Operation Sindoor, nine terror camps were destroyed. Officials reiterated that there was no intent to engage with the Pakistani military; only terrorist targets were hit. The operation was a response to the killing of innocent civilians. Over 100 terrorists were reportedly neutralised, including those involved in the Pulwama attack and the Kandahar plane hijacking, the Army revealed in a press conference.
