Saved brother from falling tree branch; tragic death for eight-year-old girl

KALLAMBALAM: A girl died tragically when a tree fell on her while she was trying to save her younger brother. Ruksana (8), the eldest daughter of Sahad and Nadia, who live in NNB Manzil at Laksham Veedu Colony, Kudavoor, Navaikulam, died. The accident occurred at 9 am yesterday.

Ruksana was playing with her one and a half year old younger brother Swalid behind the house when the incident took place. Meanwhile, Ruksana heard the sound of a tree breaking on a nearby property and ran to save her younger brother. The tree fell on Ruksana's body. Swalid miraculously survived. Ruksana, who was seriously injured, was admitted to a nearby private hospital and then to the SAT, but her life could not be saved. Her father is a labourer.
Siblings: Raheesa Fatima, Swalid. Ruksana, who died, was a second-grade student of Peroor MMUP School. After the postmortem, she was buried at the Kudavoor Muslim Jamaat. Many people, including MLA V. Joy, attended the funeral.
