NEDUMANGAD: A youth was stabbed to death during a clash between workers at the Nedumangad market. The deceased has been identified as Muhammed Asher (28), a native of Vattakulam, Azhikode. The attacker, Nisar, also from Azhikode, fled the scene after the incident. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Sunday. The murder followed an argument that began at a private bar in Nedumangad.
According to reports, Asher, who works in route sales of various food items, and Nisar, an employee at a beef stall, were friends. The two had been drinking together at a bar near the KSRTC bus stand in Nedumangad on Sunday evening when an argument broke out. As the dispute escalated, bar staff asked both of them to leave.
Afterwards, Asher walked toward the market, with Nisar following him. A physical altercation ensued at the market, during which Nisar stabbed Asher with a knife he was carrying at his waist. Asher, who sustained injuries to his chest and abdomen, died on the spot. Nedumangad police have registered a case and begun an investigation. The body has been placed in the mortuary at the Nedumangad district hospital. Asher was unmarried.
