MUMBAI: Police have booked a 40-year-old woman from Malvani, Malad in Mumbai for posting a WhatsApp status criticising Operation Sindoor. The woman, who works as a beautician, allegedly used objectionable language while urging that the military operation be called off.
'When governments make decisions without reconsideration, it is not those in power, but the innocent on both sides who end up paying the price,' her status read. She had used an obscene word in the post, Following this, the police registered a case against her.
Earlier, a Malayali youth was arrested by the Maharashtra Police for posting on social media against Operation Sindoor. Rejas M Sheeba Saidik (26), an activist and independent journalist from Edappally, Kochi, was taken into custody from a hotel in Nagpur. Charges against him include waging war against the government and inciting violence.
Following his arrest, a joint search was conducted at Rejas's residence in Kochi by the local police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). The raid took place last night. Police also arrested Rejas’s friend, Isha Kumari (22), a resident of Nagpur. The FIR claims that Rijas has links with the CPI (Maoist) organization. He is also facing other cases in Kerala.
