KOCHI: Four people were arrested for causing a commotion at Cherai Beach in Kochi while under the influence of alcohol. The group, which included a woman, reportedly created chaos at the beach. The arrested individuals are Rahul Dev from Chendamangalam, Ajay from Methala, Farsana from Vadakara and Siya Shibu from Vadakkekara in Ernakulam.
After getting into an argument with a shop owner at the beach, the group used abusive language and threw chairs around. Farsana and the others reportedly caused a commotion for nearly half an hour. As the altercation heated up, Farsana falsely accused the shop owner of physically assaulting her.
However, police investigations revealed that the woman's allegation was false. Authorities stated that the group was intoxicated and misbehaved with the shopkeeper, who was merely defending himself. The police confirmed that the shopkeeper had done nothing wrong.
On suspicion that the group might be in possession of illegal substances, the police also conducted a search at the resort where they were staying. However, no contraband was found during the search.
Nevertheless, a case was registered against all four individuals for causing a public disturbance. They were arrested and later released on bail. The group had reportedly come to Cherai to attend a friend’s wedding. They had consumed alcohol at the resort before heading to the beach.
