Hill collapses during national highway construction; 18-year-old Kolkata native dies tragically

KASARAGOD: A migrant worker died when the ground collapsed during the construction of the National Highway. The incident took place in Mattalayi, Kasaragod. Kolkata native Muntaj Mir (18) died. Three others were also injured in the accident. They were shifted to a hospital in Cheruvathur.

The accident occurred around 10 am today. The hill collapsed while the soil was being removed using a JCB at Hanumarambalam in Mattalayi, which is part of the National Highway. With this, three people, including Muntaj Mir, were trapped under the soil. Locals, fire force and police pulled them out, but Muntaj died on the spot.
