THRISSUR: Paramekkavu Devaswom responded to the elephant running amok incident during the Thrissur pooram festival. The devoswon in their response blamed miscreants for directing laser on the pachyderms’ eyes which led to a concerning situation.

Paramekkavu Devaswom officials also demanded a ban on lasers in Pooram ground. The Devaswom also suspected the involvement of certain organisations in the incident.

"The role of organizations opposing elephants for the temple parade should be investigated", officials said.

The officials are also contemplating filing a complaint with the police along with Instagram reels proving the wide use of lasers during Thrissur pooram.

The elephant Ootoli Raman, while participating in the procession ran amok creating panic in the crowd. Several people were injured in the melee.
