Engineering student dies after KSRTC bus crashes into bike at Bakery junction flyover

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A student of Sreechitra Engineering College in Pappanamcode died on Monday evening after his bike rammed into a KSRTC bus in the capital city. The tragic accident occurred at the Bakery junction flyover.

Kilimanoor Porunthamon native Kalidasan (20), son of Ajithkumar and Sandhya, died in the accident. His classmate, Niharika (19), a native of Palakkad, who was pillion riding suffered serious injury in the accident. She is undergoing treatment at the Medical College Hospital.

The accident took place at 5.30 pm on Monday. The bus coming from Thampanoor towards Palayam collided with a bike travelling in the opposite direction. Police said the accident occurred when the KSRTC bus was overtaking another car.

Kalidasan died instantly after hitting his head on the road. The dead body is currently kept at the Medical College Hospital morgue.
